Ok so this will probably be the first of many beauty posts. I am pretty much make up obsessed and it’s probably what I would be doing if I wasn’t even more obsessed with making clothes. I love Mac Cosmetics with all my heart but have all sorts of brands and some really cheap products too which I’ll share with you at some point.
For this post I wanted to share my thoughts on Lorde’s Mac lipstick ‘Pure Heroine’ and compare it to a few other Mac shades that you might be familiar with. Im doing this because purple is my favourite lipstick colour – I find it stains my lips the best which makes it last a really long time, so thats why I was really looking forward to trying Pure Heroine.
Here are some swatches I did next to the colours shown on the MAC website which like all make up sites aren’t always true reflections
Pure Heroine is in the Creme Amplified formula which is my personal fave as it’s creamy to apply, really opaque in colour and doesn’t dry out at all like the matte ones can. The colour is great – it comes out exactly like it looks in the tube – a really beautiful true dark purple. It’s definitely going to be a staple and is great worn over the Vino lip pencil.
Heroine is a matte shade and is extremely popular. It was limited edition for a while but now is available all the time
Cyber is a really really dark shade in the satin finish
Up The Amp
Up the Amp is in the creme amplified formula and this is my favourite lipstick of all time. I wear it over the Magenta lip pencil and it just lasts all day long – it’s amazing.
I have to admit I haven’t worn Rebel very much. In the tube it looks really dark purple but it comes out quite light and a little too red for me
TIP: To have a good surface for your lipstick to sit on make sure you exfoliate your lips – you can buy scrubs but I make one at home with 1/2 teaspoon each of olive oil, brown sugar and honey and it works a treat
So that’s my purple lipstick wrap up! What are you favourite Mac shades?
